NEW ON FIGHT-TV !
Download and keep your favourite fights !
W&L launches its new ‘Download-to-Own’ system !
From this coming Saturday (27th September), W&L will have available online its third FIGHT-TV channel ! (FIGHT-TV)
You already know about our free extracts and ‘Pay-per-View’ facilities (the latter which allows you to view your chosen fight in a reduced format, but at a very modest price). Well, from Saturday onwards, you’ll be able to use your computer to download your favourite fights (in large format and high definition) on a permanent basis! You’ll then be free to burn these onto CD or DVD, or simply keep them on your very own hard drive !
Initially, 8 fights will be available for permanent downloading through this new third channel. We will then progressively increase this number until the full range of currently-available W&L titles is reached.
And that’s not all ! In line with the old adage ‘good news never travels alone’, we’d also like to announce that, courtesy of some recent upgrades, our ‘Pay-per-View’ screen has been changed to produce images of much greater definition !
With regard to ‘Download-to-Own’, not only will you be able to download our screen, you’ll also be able to download the codec that will enable you to view your fights on the player of your choice ! (The vast majority of computers come ready-equipped with such a codec, and so, in the vast majority of cases, there’s no reason to download one specially.)

The W&L webmaster has gone on holiday without having made arrangements for new ‘pay-per-view’ films to be put online, and so consequently we’ve been unable to broadcast the latest film (due on Tuesday 12th August)! For several days now we’ve been searching for a way of rectifying this oversight, but unfortunately we keep being defeated by the problem of transcoding from the original format.
The webmaster himself (understandly the focus of everyone’s anger!), is now frantically trying to establish an internet connection to our servers from his holiday home (where, ironically, he should have been relaxing and getting away from all things technological!) Papa Pam has become very irritable since the start of this regrettable inconvenience, and poor Norbert (W&L’s adorable mascot) is now confined to his bed with a fever (see photo).
However, let’s be optimistic! We haven’t forgotten that the emblem of France is the cockerel; a pugnacious and defiant animal whose arrogant crowing is broadcast to the world with spurs firmly embedded in a pile of manure... |

W&L is delighted to announce the launch of ‘Pay-per-View’, a convenient online system that offers you, our customers, the opportunity of purchasing individual fights from a range of W&L tournaments. Using this system, you can watch each downloaded film as many times as you like (and can jump, backwards and forwards, from one favourite scene to the next) for as long as you stay connected to the W&L website.
And the price? Well, that’s almost the best bit! Such has been the phenomenal demand for our high quality videos and DVDs that we’re now able to offer this service at an unbelievably low price: just 2.99 Euros (3.99 US Dollars) per fight! For films of such superior quality (both in terms of image reproduction and wrestling skills), that’s truly amazing; easily the best value on the market today.
Note: Compared with W&L DVDs, Pay-per-View cannot support the same high standard of picture quality. Nonetheless, for this type of online service, it's the best available in today's market.

It’s August, so what better time to release one of W&L’s hottest films to date!
Welcome to Cadors 1 - on sale now!
Top of the bill sees the return of hot, hairy hunk Pascal, a true star of the grappling arts and a firm favourite of W&L fans worldwide. In probably his toughest challenge yet, Pascal gets up close and personal with that other hunky number - W&L’s very own ‘Young Hercules’ - Christophe 2. Never has High Definition (HD) imaging technology been better showcased (nor multiple cameras been put to better use) than in this particular bout; it’s as if you’re there in person to wipe off the sweat!
Bout 2, and killer shark, Ara, picks up the scent of yet another victim (this time suavely handsome Sylvain 2) and wastes no time in launching his assault. If it weren’t for his own well-developed mat skills and sense of self-preservation, you’d almost feel sorry for Sylvain, such is the searing intensity and determination of his cold-blooded opponent!
And finally, in a fantastically well-matched bout, Benoit and Fabrice go at it hammer-and-tongs in a speedos match which sees the action careering on and off the mat at brake-neck pace. Where they get the energy from is a mystery. One thing’s for sure, though; they certainly relish the opportunity of getting to grips with one another; their enthusiasm positively radiates from the screen!

Norbert hits the slopes!
You – the friends of W&L - have been very concerned recently about the prolonged absence of Norbert (our charming little mascot) from the site (and indeed from the media in general!), and you’ve all been asking to be updated on everything that’s been going on in his life over the past few weeks.
Since February, Norbert’s been based in Savoy, in a chalet owned by his ‘Papa PAM’ (W&L’s beloved Producer and Norbert’s adopted father). He’s been spending his days either on the ski runs, or else walking through the snow-covered forests. Here he is, just on the verge of leaving for yet another walk, complete of course with the all-important snow shoes !
In the evenings, he surfs the internet, and in so doing keeps an eye on W&L’s growing presence in the wrestling world ! He was particularly thrilled to learn recently of W&L’s great success in two categories of the ‘Best of Wrestling Videos’ poll, where, in the opinion of websurfers, two fights have come out on top : Damien (of ‘Kosto des Lascards’) vs Fabrice (of ‘Castagneux Sentimentaux’) in the ‘Shooters’ category, and Pascal vs Sylvain 1 (both of ‘Kosto des Lascards’) in ‘Muscle Dudes’ :

However, Norbert is a little concerned about the growing number of free videos available on the web: ‘If films aren’t selling any more’ he frets, ‘then will Papa PAM be forced to sell his chalet ?’ ‘Don’t worry, little guy’, we tell him, ‘true fans will always prefer the superior picture quality of DVD and would far rather have fights in their entirety !’
Norbert is extremely touched to hear that you’ve all been asking after him. He sends you all his best wishes and wants us to reassure you that he’s as fit as a fiddle !

A god amongst us.
Current worldwide champion of MMA, Wanderlei Silva was born in Brasil in July, 1976. At 13 years of age, thinking himself a short guy and above his weight, he started to train in Muay Thay in the Chute Boxe Academy, with a simple objective: to improve his aesthetic and to find a girlfriend! Wanderlei couldn’t have known that, at 26, he would be considered the biggest MMA fighter of all time. ”Wanderlei is a mix of race and intelligence” says Rudimar Fedrigo, his coach.
By the age of 20, Wanderlei’s appearance – with his face swollen and eyebrows scarred – prompted his father Horlando Silva to tell him: “This won’t do anything for you, and won’t give you anything back. Get a job.” But Wanderlei continued with his dreams, winning his first prize in Japan (to the value of $ US 3.500) in 1999.
Since then, this god of fighting has already participated in more than 30 top-level fights, having lost only five. He is world MMA champion, representing Brazil in Pride Tournaments and he is idolized in many countries, especially Japan, where he is a video and television star. |

Mon, Jan 15, 2007-0087 As you may recall, Norbert - our charming little mascot (who should never be confused with your W&L correspondent of the same name) - helped out all his pals over the Christmas and New Year period by offering DVDs from W&L at sensationally discounted prices. Well, such was the success of this offer (with sales of DVDs almost going through the roof !) that we’ve decided to prolong it for a few more weeks.
As a reminder, here’s the new tariff : 35 Euros per DVD (instead of 46) ; 43 US Dollars instead of 57 ...and, of course, don’t forget our exceptional offer on both Fight-Pack 1 and Fight-Pack 2 – that’s 30,66 Euros per DVD (38 US Dollars) ! PAM, our beloved producer (who also happens to be Norbert’s adopted father), was so happy with this initiative that he decided to send Norbert a piggybank for Christmas (somewhere safe for Norbert to keep his profits !), a gesture which reduced this sentimental little mouse to tears ! Here he is, photographed at Peter’s home in London (Peter being PAM’s good friend and Norbert’s gracious host), sitting next to the piggybank and his note of thanks to PAM (who, you’ll notice, he refers to as ‘Papa’, even though the note itself is written in English !)

December has been a very trying month for poor Norbert : he’s been unceremoniously removed from his gruyere cellar, forcibly repatriated to London, subjected (against his will) to a Christmas photoshoot, and above all made to package up and dispatch every one of the numerous films which he himself has sold at discount prices !
Mind you, with the money he’s made from these sales, he’s been able to treat himself to a short stay in Paris. You can see him now, perched on the roof of a police car. (He’s had to rely on the ‘boys in blue’ in order to avoid being trampled to death by the crowds !) He really does appear to be somewhat out of sorts; one might say a little distracted - even a bit depressed. These holidays have come just at the right time; they should certainly help to get him back on his feet again !
Tired of having to be present in the presidential box during the sporting endeavours of Olympique Lyon, Chelsea, Toulouse Stadium and, of course, W&L, Norbert’s been needing a change of scene for some time now; hence his decision to spend New Year’s Eve in Paris, capital of sequins and baubles ! On the agenda : the Champs Elysees, Champagne, ‘Champignons de Paris’ and, of course, the Moulin Rouge and French CanCan !
We sincerely hope that these ladies will catch his eye and that he’ll return to us in much better shape for the start of 2007 ! |

It’s almost Christmas !
It’s that time of year again – time for another of Norbert’s Christmas discounts!
For Christmas this year, Norbert (our charming mascot), has taken control of W&L stock and is now sending DVDs out to all his chums at knock-down prices (that’s 35 Euros or 43 Dollars each, instead of 46 Euros or 57 Dollars: make the most of it !) And he’s keeping the profits all to himself ! That’s his way of getting back at the Producer, who recently abducted him from his gruyere cellar in Savoy and made him return to London immediately for the traditional Christmas photoshoot at the end of the year.
Here he is, then - under the spotlight once again - but this time in one hell of a mood ! He claims that the costume he’s been forced to wear has been deliberately designed just to humiliate him. You can clearly see from photo just how unwilling he is : he was fidgeting so much that it was simply impossible to get the hat on over his ears, nor could we position his false beard correctly ! And can’t you just see the air of defiance ?!
Poor Norbert ! Let’s hope he gets back into a better frame of mind soon... |

Norbert de la Cave à Gruyère
Norbert – our charming little mascot – disappeared from his London home for several days recently without anyone having the faintest idea of where he was or where he was hiding himself. However, after a week of enquiries we managed to locate him - in a monastery of all places, resplendent in a new cowl !
It was the large number of documents that we found in his house – documents concerning a Cistercian abbey in Savoy (and, more precisely, the pages about the monks’ cellar of gruyere cheese) that enabled us to pick up the scent (almost literally!).
We strongly doubt the religious vocation of our adorable little mouse, and we suspect him of wanting to satisfy his lurid cheese fantasies, to the detriment of the brotherhood who have been good enough to give him shelter...

Mourad des Typhons Mourad (of Club ‘Typhons et Pythons’) – a young brawler with balls of steel and a sensationally fiery temperament – first emerged during the Philippe Loison Memorial Tournament in August. It was a debut that was to blow the usual conventions of W&L- style fighting clean out of the water and turn the tournament itself on its head! Mourad completely disregards the spatial limitations usually placed on fighters (i.e. by the perimeter of the red mat!), and thinks nothing of taking the violence outside and into the surrounding areas. He’s also very familiar with the lingo of the City suburbs, and so assaults his opponents verbally (as well as physically), with constant streams of searing insult and astonishingly lewd obscenities! Consequently, his fights almost always oscillate between submission wrestling and down-and-dirty street fighting! Here, then, is a young wrestler to keep a very close eye on: no doubt he’ll find himself a place amongst the greats of W&L (that is, if he doesn’t offend too many of our more sensitive customers in the interim!)

Guerriers n°1 available at last !
Here we are then: wrestlers from five of the best Free Fight clubs confronting each other in W&L’s special universe, this time during a tournament held in August in memory of Philippe Loison. As usual, we’ve kept for posterity three fights, each one characterized by a sense of dramatic originality and flair. In W&L productions, no two fights are the same; each is a unique story of two unique temperaments coming together and clashing in the heat of battle!
For the very first time, Mourad gets to know the bright lights of the silver screen (as well as the pitch-blackness of the underworld which Benoit has in store for him!).
For only the second time on screens anywhere in the world, Christophe 2’s chiseled muscularity is revealed – not for inspection by Michelangelo’s expert eye, but instead for taking apart anyone who dares defy him on the mat!
For the fourth time, Cheme’s ankle ‘mascot’ (whose role as lucky charm has long since taken over from its original therapeutic use!), continues to arouse the curiosity of fans as far away as the Antipodes.
So then, just picture it: You’re sitting in the amphitheatre and applauding the gladiators who, in turn, are saluting you: “Hail, Caesar! We, who are about to die, salute you!”

W&L : home of the wrestling connoisseur !
W&L tournaments are out of this world : our fighters prefer to face each other with neither rules nor referee, and the winner is the guy who manages to score the greatest number of submissions in the space of 25 minutes. All holds are permitted and in some particularly aggressive matches, fighters don’t think twice about using their fists, feet, elbows, shins and indeed heads for additional firepower !
In fact, the absence of a referee allows all sorts of bad behaviour ! What’s more, the time allowed for these matches is usually long enough to allow each fighter’s more primal and passionate characteristics to emerge : arrogance, frustration, pride, humiliation – all very much in evidence amongst guys who don’t trust each other one inch who use their voices regularly to intimidate as well as to insult, and who prolong particularly painful holds with relish and breathtaking cruelty !
W&L encounters are much more than straightforward fights they’re titanic clashes of ego and temperament which slowly-but-surely descend to the level of brutal streetfights ! And as submissions alternate between one fighter and another, so the suspense (as well as the score) builds ! Such is the essence of W&L tournaments.
Please note that you will soon be able to view selected (individual) fights from W&L Tournaments via Channel 2 of 'Fight-TV' on a 'pay-per-view' basis.
