It’s August, so what better time to release one of W&L’s hottest films to date!
Welcome to Cadors 1 - on sale now!
Top of the bill sees the return of hot, hairy hunk Pascal, a true star of the grappling arts and a firm favourite of W&L fans worldwide. In probably his toughest challenge yet, Pascal gets up close and personal with that other hunky number - W&L’s very own ‘Young Hercules’ - Christophe 2. Never has High Definition (HD) imaging technology been better showcased (nor multiple cameras been put to better use) than in this particular bout; it’s as if you’re there in person to wipe off the sweat!
Bout 2, and killer shark, Ara, picks up the scent of yet another victim (this time suavely handsome Sylvain 2) and wastes no time in launching his assault. If it weren’t for his own well-developed mat skills and sense of self-preservation, you’d almost feel sorry for Sylvain, such is the searing intensity and determination of his cold-blooded opponent!
And finally, in a fantastically well-matched bout, Benoit and Fabrice go at it hammer-and-tongs in a speedos match which sees the action careering on and off the mat at brake-neck pace. Where they get the energy from is a mystery. One thing’s for sure, though; they certainly relish the opportunity of getting to grips with one another; their enthusiasm positively radiates from the screen!

A god amongst us.
Current worldwide champion of MMA, Wanderlei Silva was born in Brasil in July, 1976. At 13 years of age, thinking himself a short guy and above his weight, he started to train in Muay Thay in the Chute Boxe Academy, with a simple objective: to improve his aesthetic and to find a girlfriend! Wanderlei couldn’t have known that, at 26, he would be considered the biggest MMA fighter of all time. ”Wanderlei is a mix of race and intelligence” says Rudimar Fedrigo, his coach.
By the age of 20, Wanderlei’s appearance – with his face swollen and eyebrows scarred – prompted his father Horlando Silva to tell him: “This won’t do anything for you, and won’t give you anything back. Get a job.” But Wanderlei continued with his dreams, winning his first prize in Japan (to the value of $ US 3.500) in 1999.
Since then, this god of fighting has already participated in more than 30 top-level fights, having lost only five. He is world MMA champion, representing Brazil in Pride Tournaments and he is idolized in many countries, especially Japan, where he is a video and television star. |

Mourad des Typhons
Mourad (of Club ‘Typhons et Pythons’) – a young brawler with balls of steel and a sensationally fiery temperament – first emerged during the Philippe Loison Memorial Tournament in August. It was a debut that was to blow the usual conventions of W&L-style fighting clean out of the water and turn the tournament itself on its head!
Mourad completely disregards the spatial limitations usually placed on fighters (i.e. by the perimeter of the red mat!), and thinks nothing of taking the violence outside and into the surrounding areas. He’s also very familiar with the lingo of the City suburbs, and so assaults his opponents verbally (as well as physically), with constant streams of searing insult and astonishingly lewd obscenities! Consequently, his fights almost always oscillate between submission wrestling and down-and-dirty street fighting!
Here, then, is a young wrestler to keep a very close eye on: no doubt he’ll find himself a place amongst the greats of W&L (that is, if he doesn’t offend too many of our more sensitive customers in the interim!)

Guerriers n°1 : available at last !
Here we are then: wrestlers from five of the best Free Fight clubs confronting each other in W&L’s special universe, this time during a tournament held in August in memory of Philippe Loison. As usual, we’ve kept for posterity three fights, each one characterized by a sense of dramatic originality and flair. In W&L productions, no two fights are the same; each is a unique story of two unique temperaments coming together and clashing in the heat of battle!
For the very first time, Mourad gets to know the bright lights of the silver screen (as well as the pitch-blackness of the underworld which Benoit has in store for him!).
For only the second time on screens anywhere in the world, Christophe 2’s chiseled muscularity is revealed – not for inspection by Michelangelo’s expert eye, but instead for taking apart anyone who dares defy him on the mat!
For the fourth time, Cheme’s ankle ‘mascot’ (whose role as lucky charm has long since taken over from its original therapeutic use!), continues to arouse the curiosity of fans as far away as the Antipodes.
So then, just picture it: You’re sitting in the amphitheatre and applauding the gladiators who, in turn, are saluting you: “Hail, Caesar! We, who are about to die, salute you!”

W&L : home of the wrestling connoisseur !
W&L tournaments are out of this world : our fighters prefer to face each other with neither rules nor referee, and the winner is the guy who manages to score the greatest number of submissions in the space of 25 minutes. All holds are permitted and in some particularly aggressive matches, fighters don’t think twice about using their fists, feet, elbows, shins and indeed heads for additional firepower !
In fact, the absence of a referee allows all sorts of bad behaviour ! What’s more, the time allowed for these matches is usually long enough to allow each fighter’s more primal and passionate characteristics to emerge : arrogance, frustration, pride, humiliation – all very much in evidence amongst guys who don’t trust each other one inch ; who use their voices regularly to intimidate as well as to insult, and who prolong particularly painful holds with relish and breathtaking cruelty !
W&L encounters are much more than straightforward fights they’re titanic clashes of ego and temperament which slowly-but-surely descend to the level of brutal streetfights ! And as submissions alternate between one fighter and another, so the suspense (as well as the score) builds ! Such is the essence of W&L tournaments. |

Today, we present a new extract from ‘RIXE 1’ . In the very first bout, YUNG and SYLVAIN go at it hammer and tongs as each strives for dominance. Yung, with his fantastically chiselled physique, is really up against it this time with Sylvain (the quietly confident stud who, although not as defined as his opponent physically, more then compensates for it with the skill, precision and balls of a hired assassin!).
The other fighters on this production are CHRISTOPHE 1ST (cocky and domineering, as ever!), pitted against YVON (a solid hunk of pure testosterone who takes absolutely no prisoners when it comes to grappling) and ELVIS (W&L’s muscle-mountain, prone to leaving most of his opponents in pieces at he end of the day) who this time takes on OMAR (a lithe and dangerously cunning warrior, whose reptilian attributes of strength and suppleness make him quite a handful for even the most experienced and skilful of opponents; a bit like a cross between an eel and a boa constrictor, in fact!). |

Benoît des Mâtins
Spotlight on Benoit, one of the stars of our latest production, ‘Caids 1’.
A much-respected and valued fighter, Benoit doesn’t let anyone intimidate him – not even Damien, who, in ‘Caids 1’, impertinently challenges him and mercilessly attempts take control from the outset. Always appreciative and respectful of an opponent’s skill on the mats (even though things get decidedly heated during this particular encounter!), such is Benoit’s nature that he doesn’t harbour any resentment whatsoever for the youngster once the fighting’s over.
Benoit’s behaviour throughout the match is that of an elder who tries his best to change the ways of an errant youngster, for Damien is just that little bit too cocky and hotheaded for his liking! There’s no doubt that, on this occasion, Benoit gets the full measure of the mental, physical and technical capabilities of his junior rival, and at the end of the bout he's quick to congratulate Damien on a battle very well fought.

Damien du Kosto
Our wrestlers very often take part in international training sessions, where they can develop their skills and ‘harden’ themselves through direct contact with some of the great champions from overseas. Consequently, not all are present at any one time for the W&L tournaments.
This has been the case for both Fabrice and Damien, who, over these last few months, have been on a long stay in Japan, attempting to perfect their already formidable skills in Judo. However, they’re back in the country now, and, at our most recent tournament, we’ve had the pleasure of seeing them fight again.
Damien, as perhaps you can guess from the photo, is always fired-up! He’s a veritable stick of dynamite, and his opponents usually end up shredded like confetti!
Look what happens when he comes to score his second point. His opponent is grounded, too stunned even to respond to Damien’s taunts. Damien turns his menacing stare first towards the audience, and then towards the camera, which he defies with characteristic arrogance. Understandably, the cameraman recoils in fear…. .This is just one of the many highlights that we hope to share with you soon when the next film is released. |

CHRISTOPHE 2 !
Today we present one of the many wrestlers who regularly participate in our tournaments but who have never before appeared in our videos. (Alas, we simply don’t have the time to publish all the fights and showcase every one of our superb wrestlers!).
Christophe 2 is one such fighter: he took part in his first W&L tournament during the 2003 season. Barely 18 years of age, he benefits above all from having a truly Herculean physique: square and muscular, he’s also an excellent fighter; a quietly determined type (like Miguel) and, in the throes of battle, heavily reliant upon the instincts and qualities of a true warrior (also like Miguel). He soaks up pain like a sponge and is little inclined to submit. We’ve no doubt whatsoever that his athletic qualities and winner’s mentality will make him one of the future stars of our tournaments, although very soon you’ll have the pleasure of seeing him wrestle amongst the elite of W&L fighters! In fact, we’ve not been able to resist any longer the chance of propelling him into the media limelight. He absolutely deserves it, and for him we’ve chosen a particularly suitable opponent - Christophe 1 (who himself has managed to put on quite a few kilos of beef since his last appearance on our screens). We’re all very keen indeed to find out which of the Christophes makes the other eat mat. One’s as menacingly restrained as the other is demonstrative, but each guy is more than capable of vigorously defending himself and subjecting his namesake to 25 minutes of hell!
So, see you all down at the gym for what promises to be a titanic clash of the giants!

READY TO RUMBLE !
Damien and Fabrice are ready to rumble in NTSC format ! (“Costauds n°1” is available now in NTSC DVD). Did you know that these two fighters are not wrestlers but judo fighters?
It may surprise many of you to learn that not all of our fighters hail directly from the world of wrestling. Many have joined the stables of W&L from a variety of combat disciplines, such as Thai Boxing (e.g. Ghislain), Ju Jitsu (e.g. Ronald, Alex, Ali, Bruno, Chême, Yvon) and French Boxing (e.g. Tor, Robert) and, thanks mainly to Pascal’s enterprising and effective networking in the very earliest days of W&L, the number of participants continues to grow.
You might ask, “What’s the attraction of W&L for these guys?” Well, in essence, W&L tournaments afford fighters the opportunity to battle against each other in just about the most primal way imaginable; no referee, no restrictions when it comes to holds and not in any way encumbered by excessive gear such as judo jackets, protective padding, etc, etc. It’s a real showcase for basic fighting skills and machismo !
Cocky studs Damien and Fabrice (Bout 1 from “Costauds 1”) – the greatest of friends outside the gym, but sworn enemies within ! - are both highly skilled judo fighters (as are, incidentally, Miguel and Sylvain 1, Benoît, Damiano, Yung). As a matter of fact, for such a relatively small country (just 58 million or so inhabitants) France has a hugely impressive record in judo. Currently, they’re second only to Japan in the world rankings, and indeed Frenchman David Douillet is considered today’s greatest living exponent, with 4 World and 2 Olympic titles to his name.

Pascal du Kosto
In our last film (“Molosses 1”), Pascal battles Elvis in a fight which has ignited the imagination of W&L fans everywhere, and already (although not altogether unexpectedly!) a great many of you have written to request a rematch between these two titans of the mats. As far as W&L is concerned, your wish is our command; plans for a rematch are already on the drawing board, and this will be released (along with a number of other eagerly-awaited return matches) in the not-too-distant future.
However, as a small appetizer, here’s a photo of Pascal, aged 20. This was taken during the golden age of competition, when each training session lasted a grueling 3 hours or more! Hard work for sure, but, as a result, Pascal is now the proud holder of a bronze medal from the French University Championships. A true accolade indeed!
Nowadays, although Pascal no longer takes part in national competitions (except W&L tournaments), his marvelous example continues to inspire the younger generation of ‘wolves’ as they prepare to cut their teeth in the arenas of combat. In order to survive under ‘Pascal’s Law’, these young bucks need to toughen their resolve (as well as their hides!), whilst at the same time retaining a healthy dollop of respect for the man who, in the opinion of many, remains the undisputed boss!

DAMIANO !
Today we present one of a number of wrestlers who’ve regularly participated in our tournaments, but who have never before appeared in any of our videos. (Alas, we’ve not been in a position to offer you all of our W&L bouts on tape, and so a number of fighters have so far remained out of the limelight!). Damiano (24 years old, 1m80, 80 KG) took part in his first W&L tournament in August 2003. He’s an excellent fighter, an exciting gladiator and a seasoned warrior - and we’re confident that he’ll be appearing on your screens in the very near future!
